Bastian Schweinsteiger sustained a knee injury during a training session with his national football team Germany and there is a possibility that the German midfielder will have to miss out from the remaining matches of the entire season, not only with Bayern Munich but also with Germany.

A recent scan identified the condition of Schweinsteiger’s injury and it was revealed that the veteran player sustained a partial ligament tear but the length of time that he will have to spend outside of the pitch still has not been officially announced or confirmed.

The 31 year old midfielder is a hugely influential player not only for Bayern Munich but also for the German national football team as he is a versatile player who can play either on the center of the pitch or down the wings and Schweinsteiger was even considered to be as: ‘’the brain’’ of German national side, according to Joachim Low.

OttmarHitzfeld is a former coach of Bayern Munich and he believes that if Bastian Schweinsteiger is not able to recover from his knee injury in time and does not manage to perform for the upcoming 2016 Euro’s it will be a huge blow for the German national football team.

“It would be sad for German football if he is were out of the Euros because this tournament is still a great goal for him. That would be a big loss for the national team. Also, a human loss for Bastian is the captain and holds the team together. He is still an absolute role model. If he should be fit for the European Championship, it will be an important component for Joachim Low, if Bastian can bring consistent performances. If he gets match practice and, therefore physically fit, he is still a highly intelligent player.”OttmarHitzfeld said.
